Many of you might know that Homeopathy has its roots in Germany. German physician Samuel Hahnemann created this alternative medicine as he was dissatisfied with the state of medicine in his time (particularly objected to practices such as bloodletting). In 1810 he published "The Organon of the Healing Art", the first systematic treatise and containing all his detailed instructions on the subject.
His technique "potentization" uses dilution and succussion of certain substances. And the principle "like cures like" became the basis for his approach: "that which can produce a set of symptoms in a healthy individual, can treat a sick individual who is manifesting a similar set of symptoms".
Homeopathy was introduced in India in the early 19th century. It flourished in Bengal, and then spread all over India. Today even the Indian Government (Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy, abbreviated as AYUSH) promotes Homeopathy, amongst other indigenous alternative medicine systems.
