A perfect Monsoon post! The rainy season is just a fabulous time to snuggle up at home with a pile of great new books at hand. But then again, if you are a book lover, any time of the year is good to indulge in books! For yourself, or as a gift for others.
The Gayatri Book store in Tapovan has a huge collection of fiction & non-fiction literature. Publications – mostly in English language – on India, Yoga, Ayurveda, Buddhism, Hinduism, spiritual Leaders, Psychology and Cooking. We discovered some beautiful notebooks too.
The owner Anand Nautiyal used to have a shop next to Laxman Jhula bridge, the Gayatri Emporium, specialising in books, music CDs, DVDs and instruments. An avid reader himself, he set up his new store in Tapovan, focusing solely on books and a few selected Ayurvedic products as well as items to support a local charity.
Even if you are not searching for a particular book, visit the shop for browsing. You will find something that inspires you.
Sidenote: Gāyatrī is a Goddess and the personified form of the Gāyatrī Mantra, a hymn from the Rig Veda. Gayatri is often associated with Savitr, a solar deity in the Vedas. The 24 Letters of Gayatri mantra represents 24 Vedic Rishis.
